How to Review APK Permissions
Android shows a list of requested permissions during installation. Reviewing this list before you tap "install" is one of the fastest checks you can run.
Reasonable for most card-game apps
- Network access, for connecting to game servers
- Storage access, for saving app data or images
- Notification access, for game or promotional alerts
Worth questioning
- SMS read or send access
- Call log or phone-state access
- Contact list access
- Accessibility-service access
- Device-admin privileges
A permission being present does not automatically mean an app is malicious — some platforms request broad permissions for legitimate anti-fraud or support purposes. But a permission with no clear relationship to gameplay is worth pausing on and, if unclear, avoiding.
Steps
- Read the full permission list shown before installation completes.
- For each permission that seems unrelated to gameplay, check whether the platform's privacy policy explains why it is needed.
- If a permission is unexplained and unrelated to core functionality, treat it as an unresolved risk factor in your decision.
